About Class 3 Vehicles

Class 3 vehicles are 3-wheeled vehicles, up to 450kg unladen weight. This includes three-wheeled motorcycles and small, lightweight vans, but does not include motorcycles with sidecars. Class 3 vehicles require their first MOT after 3 years.

Class 3 vehicles covers both Category L2 vehicles and Category L5 vehicles:

• Category L2 – A three-wheeled vehicle classed as a moped, with a maximum speed of 45km/h or under. The vehicle does not exceed 50cc for a spark ignition engine or 4KW for other power units.

• Category L5 – A three-wheeled vehicle that exceeds 50cc and has a maximum speed of over 45km/h.

If your vehicle exceeds 450kg of unladen weight, it is covered in Class 4.

Why Is It Important To Have A Class 3 MOT In Bletchley?

Three-wheeled vehicles pose unique challenges regarding road safety when compared to conventional cars and motorcycles.

These challenges stem from distinct structural designs, handling characteristics, and safety features. It’s essential to meticulously inspect these elements on a regular basis to guarantee the roadworthiness of your vehicle and identify any possible issues.

Owners of Class 3 vehicles must prioritise regular MOT testing to certify that their vehicles comply with legal requirements and are safe for public road use.
